Aberdeen Carwash
Careers — Matawan, NJ

Real work,
done by hand.

Aberdeen has been family-owned since 1962. We hand-dry every car, hold the details, and run a crew that takes the work seriously. If you do too, there's a place for you here.

Why Aberdeen

A steady place to do work you can stand behind.

Family-owned since 1962

Six decades in the same town. Steady hours, steady paychecks, and owners who know your name.

A trade, not a shift

Learn the equipment, the chemistry, and the craft of a clean finish. The skills travel with you.

Room to move up

Crew, lead, manager. We promote from the inside, and we'd rather grow you than replace you.

Treated like it matters

The work is visible and it's respected here — including how we treat the people doing it.

We could run this place with blowers and a conveyor and call it a day. We don't. Every car that leaves here gets dried by hand — because the difference between fine and finished is a person who cared enough to catch it.

— The Aberdeen family

The roles

Where you'd fit.

Wash & Prep Crew

Guide cars in, prep and pre-soak by hand, and keep the line moving. The front line of the whole operation, and where most people start.

Hand-Dry & Finish

The final touch. Towel-dry, clean the glass, dress the tires, and send every car out looking the way it should.

Customer Experience

Greet members, explain the wash, and run the lobby and the plate-recognition lane. The face of Aberdeen.

Shift Lead

Run the floor, set the pace, and train the crew. A step up for someone who's earned it. Read the full role.

Hiring year-round, full and part-time. Don't see your exact fit? Reach out anyway — good people tend to make room for themselves.

The Shift Lead, in full

Run the wash like it's yours.

The Shift Lead is responsible for everything on site during their shift — the crew, the line, the equipment, and the customer standing in front of them. It's an autonomous role: when senior management isn't here, the Shift Lead is trusted to run the operation.

Accountable for

  • ·Every vehicle prepped and loaded safely — no exceptions.
  • ·Every daily operational task completed, opening checklist through close-down.
  • ·The standard the crew works to: care in the work, loyalty to the team, and character when nobody's watching.

On the line

  • ·Greet guests as they approach the tunnel and set the tone for the visit.
  • ·Safely guide and load each vehicle onto the conveyor per procedure.
  • ·Prep by hand — high-pressure gun on bugs across the bumper, windshield, and grille; knock the mud out of wheel wells when needed.
  • ·Perform the safety inspection on every vehicle before it enters the tunnel — and know the restrictions cold: height limit, lifted and oversized builds, open tailgates, racks and attachments, loose items in beds.
  • ·Make key adjustments to wash equipment and communicate retracts and vehicle-specific settings to the crew.
  • ·Troubleshoot carwash systems when something's off, and know when to escalate.
  • ·Keep the facility clean and organized — equipment, walls, trench, vacuums, trash, lot.

With customers

  • ·Know the menu cold — every exterior wash, every full-service tier, and what's in each — and help people land on the right one.
  • ·Know the unlimited membership program inside out, and make sure every guest who'd benefit hears about it.
  • ·Able to explain the Aberdeen difference — hand-dried every car, full service when you want the inside done, a family operation since 1962.
  • ·Keep member visits seamless — plate reads at the entry lane, account updates, and sorting it on the spot when the system doesn't recognize a car.
  • ·Fluent in LEAP conflict resolution — Listen, Empathize, Acknowledge, Problem-solve — and able to turn a frustrated customer into a handled situation.
  • ·Work to improve guest wait time and satisfaction every shift.

Leading the crew

  • ·Train team members on approved procedures and hold the line on how we do things.
  • ·Run the opening checklist or nightly close-down with the crew.
  • ·Complete the daily shift report so the next shift and management know exactly where things stand.
  • ·Adhere to all company policies, procedures, safety standards, and codes of conduct — and make sure the crew does too.

The conditions, honestly

  • ·Outdoors in all weather — cold, hot, wet, rain, snow.
  • ·On your feet the whole shift; able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • ·Follow safety procedures around equipment, fumes, and wash chemistry.
  • ·Attend mandatory training sessions and team meetings.
What we offer

The deal.

  • ·
Competitive pay — and raises that track the responsibility you take on.
  • ·
Flexible scheduling — full or part-time, built around school, family, or a second job.
  • ·
Free unlimited washes — your car stays clean as long as you're on the crew.
  • ·
A real path up — we train leads and managers from the people already here.
  • ·
A business that isn't going anywhere — 60+ years in Matawan, and still investing.
